Mental health is something we all have—but in high-pressure industries like engineering, it’s easy to overlook. That’s why we recently took time out as a team to focus on mental health, with a dedicated session centered around stress, burnout, and the importance of self-care.
Our session included a presentation on the value of mindfulness, and ways to protect your mental wellbeing—both at work and at home. Everyone received a copy of The Little Book of Mindfulness, full of easy 10-minute practices to help manage daily stress.
We also held an anonymous sharing activity, where team members could express personal thoughts about their own mental health experiences. It was a powerful reminder that none of us are alone in feeling overwhelmed at times.
A key part of the session focused on the mental health of men—an especially important topic in our male-dominated industry, where stigma often prevents open conversations. By addressing this head-on, we hope to contribute to breaking down those barriers.
To wrap up the day, we took part in a round of mental health-themed charades—because a little laughter (and a slice of cake) can go a long way in lifting spirits.
We’re committed to fostering a workplace where wellbeing matters and where conversations about mental health are encouraged, supported, and met with empathy.
