MEOPHAM SCHOOL

Meopham School, located in Kent, completed construction in Q1 of 2024 and has been benefited by the pupils since.

This two-storey teaching block was a much needed addition to the school campus, providing a raft of new facilities.

The development comprised spaces such as music practice rooms, adjustable performance and practice hall, art rooms, photography and dark rooms, resistant material and general teaching classrooms.

Navigating the steel frame structure and threading the services around the building proved to be a larger challenge than aniticpated.  The services coordination involved a collaborative approach including bespoke slots formed within the beams to allow services to traverse between different spaces.

Furthermore to add to the challenge, with the music practice rooms a high acoustic performance was required and careful consideration of the services infrastructure was at the forefront.

The design also allowed for the building to be operated in part, outside of term time as part of the community use agreement without requiring to service the entire building and save on energy use.
