MAYFIELD GRAMMAR SCHOOL
The project consists of the expansion of Mayfair Grammar School, which has an outstanding rating from Ofsted.
Design was to build a new teaching block that will replace existing teaching accommodation that is no longer fit for purpose. The new building will help fulfil local educational needs with a two-storey block and carpark extension, accommodating an extra 210 pupils.
The new building will comprise a ground floor which will allow space for an activity studio, five classrooms, a science lab, eight music rooms, the headteachers office and a staff workroom. The first floor will accommodate six ICT business studies rooms and a library / study area for sixth form students.
Mayfield School started a new era in its brand-new state-of-the-art building in 2021. Giving brand new facilities to the school from a large sports hall, new drama rooms, new assembly hall, a large canteen, cafe area & much more.
The project included a modular boiler arrangement, fire dampers and heater batteries for ventilation system, kitchen AHU and extract fan system, presented as a coordinated design.
FJ&B provided the project fully new MEP services and took the design through stages 4 and 5.
FJ&B was tasked with evaluating the previous design, looking for opportunities in value engineering and energy saving, whilst maintaining full compliance with the Output Specifications.
