THAMESVIEW SCHOOL
FJB were appointed under Kier Construction to carry out the RIBA Stage 2 and Stage 3 designs for the new science teaching block at Thamesview school.
Due to budget constraints the project took a new direction and was carried through Stage 4 by a modular services contractor. FJB were retained alongside this as part of the Client Consultant team.
Owing to the modular nature and the low thermal mass of the structure, additional design work was required to assess the overheating risk of the spaces and ensure a good internal environment could be met.

Particular features of the design included for a natural gas system to the science classrooms, mobile fume cupboard service provision, air source heat pumps, roof mounted PV system, ducted hybrid ventilation systems, central toilet extract systems, CCTV and intruder alarm systems, access control systems and fire detection and alarm systems.
Networking the site fibre and comms systems as well as coordinating external works was a challenging arrangement for this scheme.
It was great to witness the project through Stages 2 to 6 and have th building come to life.
