Dutypoint CPD

We recently visited the Dutypoint offices for a great CPD session exploring the principles of cold-water boosting systems.

We discussed:

- Why boosting systems are required, including insufficient mains pressure, flow limitations and high-rise applications.

- The importance of atmospheric break tanks in protecting the water supply and preventing contamination.

- Factors influencing pump sizing and selection, including static head, pipework friction losses and required discharge pressure.

- The benefits of multiple pump systems for resilience.

- Installation considerations such as pressure-reducing valves, pressure sensors, BMS integration, WRAS compliance, vibration control and power supply requirements.

It was a valuable session that reinforced the importance of designing efficient, compliant and reliable water boosting systems to meet the demands of modern buildings.
